Busy, busy, busy......

I had two of the retreats get back to me and jump at the chance to meet up and discuss my idea more. So I am gong next week to meet them and explain more. we will see how it goes. I also put a message up on facebook here about meeting up with people and families and got several really nice replies back. One of which I met up with today. Angela has been here for five years and has three children. She was really nice and we will met again maybe tomorrow for the kids to play again. She said that there may well be parents who would happily pay for alternative education here as her children are in the local school and it is not good at all. There are major complications when they try to take them out here though. If there was an alternative then there could be many people who would send their children. I need to look carefully at the implications of this and speak to lots more people. I would love to chat up the mayor here too and see what their feelings are. If you can get on the right side of people here it goes a very long way!

Anyway, so I went along to a choir last night. I had been invited when I went to look around the school and they had sold it as a social light hearted thing that would help my Spanish. It sure as heck will do that! I got there and after warm up exercises designed to make you look stupid mainly, we started to sing Spanish songs. Now this was a challenge on several levels. One being that I had to read Spanish very fast, two, that I didn't understand a word of it, and three, that I have never sang in front of anyone before let alone in Spanish flamenco style!
Erm...this was interesting, but within ten minutes I had got all the tunes and started to really enjoy myself. The lady next to me was shocked at how fast I picked it up and it seemed to go really well. We headed off for a drink after and the teacher seemed really pleased. It was nice. Ok so here I am thinking "this is nice", get to know people and socialise and have a bit of fun. Cool. Then Carmen, (the Teacher) pulls out the flyer from their last performance in PUBLIC! Ah. I din't know that...So it turns out they do shows through out the summer at fiestas, weddings, parties, and other big events.
"So" says Carmen, "We are doing a wedding next Friday, you will sing with us, won't you?"
I was so shocked I nearly fell over. I laughed. I can't even speak Spanish let alone sing it very well. She said she would email me the songs to practice and that it wasn't a definite yet. They would not know until the day in the morning. We don't get paid, but fed very well! So we will see what happens. It may well be my first Spanish wedding to attend anyway and will be a bit of fun. They are a nice bunch and more return after the summer making a total of 15 or 20 of them. It's a good way to learn Spanish and get to know some more people. Much practice me thinks...
So in between the choir, meeting new families, activities in the park we have been bust the last few days. .Tomorrow we are dog sitting for a friend here on the camp site for the day, and maybe Angela and the kids will come swim. Then we are into a new week again. I am still loving it here and can not imagine leaving yet. I feel so comfortable here and do things I would never do in England like attend a choir, or just get out there and be so much more sociable. Its because I have to here. The only other option is to sit on a camp site on my own. Everything seems easier here. With the sun shining it just feel that way. Every day I find a new street with a little shop I didn't know about, or a stunning view I haven't seen yet. As Orgiva peels away to reveal it's self it just becomes more and more stunning. It still holds many mysteries as yet and this is half of the joy and excitement of being some where new. What will I find tomorrow? We haven't even been near any of the higher villages, which are meant to be amazing. It is to hot this month and I know it will all get revealed in time when it is ready. There is no rush to see it all now. I can't explain how I feel about it here. I feel safe and relaxed in a way that I had never felt in England. We will see what time brings. It can all change in the blink of an eye. I am aware of that. Never count your chickens. But for now at least. I am content to see what life puts in front of us next and just follow it instead of going against it. We will flow and see what it brings. Right back to the song sheets.....AHHHHH. hahahaha.
